Pico; lease and sale of mission lands; American occupation, including mention of the Flores revolt, the battle of Rancho del
Chino, encounter with Frémont; difficulties with Col. Stevenson in regard to his title to San Buenaventura lands in 1848;
friendship with José María Hijar.
